Newsletters are an excellent tool for keeping in touch with people.

People like newsletters, because they provide information and the Internet is all about information. Newsletters can take a number of forms, such as text-based emails, html emails and even blog entries - often in the form of rss feeds. Not only do newsletters allow you to keep in touch with people, they also allow you to build relationships - the very essence of Internet Marketing!

Here's an interesting fact: Most people don't make a buying decision, until they have heard the sales message 7 - 10 times and very rarely will they buy from you on their first visit! Perhaps you can now see the importance of keeping in touch with people and building relationships? Another distinct advantage of using newsletters, is that when you have a big enough subscriber list, you can develop a side-income, by placing a few ads on your newsletter. This could make a huge difference, as it's not impossible to earn a few hundred extra Euros each month! Of course, there's a bit of work involved in setting everything up, but once things are in place, you can make use of this resource for a long time to come. Here are few things to consider with newsletters:

1) Create Trust - The ultimate goal is to create trust. Once people trust you, you stand to prosper greatly. Trust takes time to develop and a quality newsletter will help to maintain your current customes base. Remember, it's not just about getting new customers, it's just as important to keep the ones that you already have! Here's a little algebraic equation that puts things into perspective: Regular Contact = Trust = Sales.

2) Keep it Simple - It is crucial that you make it easy for people to subscribe and unsubscribe.

3) Portray Professionalism - It goes without saying that a well presented newsletter can make your business appear as a bigger and more serious prospect.

4) Speed - The Internet is all about speed and your newsletter can deliver the most relevant and useful information, as quickly as possible. Your message can be sent all over the globe in a matter of minutes - sometimes seconds!

5) Attention Grabbers - Your newsletter acts as a prompt and should be designed to grab the reader's attention. One day, your message will meet the needs of the reader at the right time. When that happens, you will make a sale.

Summary - Newsletters are a great tool for condensing up-to-date relevant news. People don't want to waste their time, trawling through tons of material, so a well presented newsletter should be well structured - providing the most up to date news and information. If your newsletter makes people's lives easier, then you're on to a winner.

In my next article, I will show you how to design a good newsletter.
